It’s a distinctive heritage of innovation that’s driven by excellent technology—and outstanding people. Today, we’re tapping into the unlimited potential of AI to define the next era of computing. An era in which our GPU acts as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can understand the world. Breaking new ground calls for insight, inventiveness, and the world’s leading talent. As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in a diverse, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Producing open-source software and working effectively with the upstream community is strategic to NVIDIA's business. Whether maintaining our own projects, contributing to upstream projects, or consuming 3rd-party open-source, license compliance is a must. As NVIDIA expands both its software business and dedication to open-source, we'll also grow the team ensuring we remain in license compliance while supporting the business. If working at the intersection of open-source software and business excites you, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing:

  • Review commits, submissions, and requests for adherence to licensing and intellectual property requirements on an ongoing basis.

  • Audit existing open and closed source projects to ensure full compliance with all relevant licenses and company policies.

  • Identify, document, and drive resolution of any compliance lapses or violations.

  • Distinguish between publicly available and proprietary IP, ensuring that proprietary assets are protected and public licensing obligations are met.

  • Collaborate with development and tools teams to translate audit and review findings into actionable requirements for tooling improvements.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of software licenses (e.g., GPL, MIT, Apache) and guidelines in contribution workflows.

  • Educate and advise teams on compliance requirements and guidelines.

  • Develop and maintain documentation related to compliance processes and findings.

What we need to see:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience plus a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Expertise in software licensing and adherence, including experience with a variety of license types and compliance tools.

  • Strong ability to distinguish proprietary IP from publicly available components.

  • Experience with open-source contribution workflows and community guidelines.

  • Proven ability to conduct audits of software projects for compliance.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to clearly detail findings and communicate requirements to technical and non-technical collaborators.

  • Proven technical background, ideally with experience in software development, version control systems, and CI/CD environments.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience implementing or improving compliance automation tools.
