The role
The Field Structured Cabling Senior Technician is responsible for managing and controlling structured cabling activities on-site, ensuring installations are completed according to approved designs, specifications, and project schedules. This role serves as the main field interface between the design team, project managers, contractors, logistics, and vendors.
The position is field-focused and plays a key role in translating design drawings into accurate, well-executed cabling installations while maintaining proper change control and documentation.
You’re also welcome to work on-site at our office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinate and control structured cabling activities from early project stages through deployment completion.

Supervise and direct external contractors, including planning and controlling cable pull schedules in alignment with Project Managers and other infrastructure teams.

Ensure cabling installations follow approved DWG drawings, specifications, cable routes, and quantities.

Track cable pulls, routes, and completion status; document progress and any deviations.

Apply minor layout updates directly in DWG files when required; escalate major design changes to the Structured Cabling Design team.

Oversee installation of cable tray and containment systems based on project timelines and priorities.

Maintain accurate field documentation and update tracking spreadsheets or deployment systems.

Support as-built documentation by ensuring all field changes are captured.

Coordinate with logistics teams and vendors to ensure timely delivery, handling, and staging of cabling materials, including large palletized deliveries.

Act as the on-site point of contact for structured cabling-related coordination and issue resolution.
We expect you to have:

2–3+ years of relevant field experience in structured cabling or telecommunications.

Proven hands-on experience with structured cabling deployment (fiber and copper).

Strong knowledge of fiber-optic infrastructure, including:

Fiber patch panels
-
Enclosures and fiber management systems
-
Cassettes and distribution frames
-

Ability to read, interpret, and apply AutoCAD / DWG drawings in the field.

Experience supervising or coordinating contractors and field teams.

Solid understanding of cable pathways, tray systems, and routing best practices.

Experience with field documentation, cable tracking, and change control.

Strong communication and coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Participation in large-scale structured cabling projects, preferably in data center environments.

Understanding of and hands-on experience working in data center environments, including operational, safety, and access requirements.

Basic knowledge of network topologies and how structured cabling supports network and IT infrastructure.

Hands-on experience working as part of a cable pulling team.

Experience with high-density fiber environments and large cable volumes.

Familiarity with structured cabling standards (TIA, ISO, BICSI).
Nice to Have

Knowledge of or exposure to fiber fusion splicing.
