About the Role

We are seeking a Senior DPU Datapath Engineer to lead validation, automation, and operations for our NVIDIA DPU-based dataplane in production. As part of the Network Services / DPU team, you will own the test and automation strategy for our OVS-based datapath and related control-plane components, ensuring that NVIDIA software releases are validated for regression, functionality, and scalability against CoreWeave’s production environment.

You will partner closely with DPU, networking, and platform engineering teams to define requirements, build automation, and turn dataplane validation into a reliable, repeatable service that protects our customers and our cloud.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a local team driving the DPU test strategy and execution.
  • Own the validation strategy for the DPU datapath, covering regression, new feature, and scale/performance testing for NVIDIA software releases and DPU images.
  • Design and implement automation to exercise our production-like dataplane:
    • Orchestrate DPU/host configurations, OVS pipelines, and traffic patterns
    • Automate test execution, result collection, and reporting
    • Integrate with CI/CD to gate releases entering production
  • Deeply understand and validate NVIDIA DPU behavior in our environment:
    • NVIDIA DPU software (e.g., DOCA/HBN stacks and related components)
    • OVS/OVS offload pipelines and interaction with the DPU hardware
    • Integration with our backbone, VPC, and Kubernetes networking layers
  • Collaborate with operations and on-call owners:
    • Ensure validation coverage reflects real incident patterns and customer usage
    • Provide clear documentation and runbooks for DPU-related changes
    • Participate in on-call rotations, incident reviews, and postmortems where DPU datapath is involved
  • Influence architecture and roadmap:
    • Provide input into DPU dataplane and control-plane design from a testability and operability perspective
    • Work with NVIDIA and other vendors on issues, escalations, and feature validation

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in networking, systems, or cloud infrastructure engineering, with a strong focus on dataplane technologies and production operations.
  • Hands-on experience with NVIDIA DPUs (e.g., BlueField) in a cloud or large-scale deployment, including:
    • Understanding of DPU firmware/software lifecycle
    • Familiarity with offload pipelines and integration with host networking
  • Strong knowledge of OVS and related datapath technologies:
    • OVS configuration and pipelines (bridges, flows, offloads)
    • Integration with kernel networking and hardware offload
  • Solid background in cloud networking infrastructure, including:
    • VPCs, routing, and security policies
    • Overlay/underlay networking and ECMP
    • Multi-tenant environments and isolation requirements
  • Proven ability to build test and automation frameworks for complex systems:
    • Proficiency in Python, Golang, or a similar language
    • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines
    • Track record of designing scalable, maintainable automation suites
  • Strong skills in network observability and troubleshooting:
    • Comfortable with tcpdump, iproute2, perf, and similar tools
    • Experience with metrics/logging systems and performance analysis
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead technical direction, mentor more junior engineers, and collaborate across teams.

Preferred

  • Experience validating or operating NVIDIA DPU / DOCA / HBN stacks specifically in a cloud provider or large-scale data center.
  • Prior work on dataplane validation or system test for network switches, smartNICs, or DPUs.
  • Experience with Kubernetes-based environments and how DPUs integrate into Kubernetes networking and node lifecycle.
  • Contributions to relevant open-source projects (P4, OVS, DPDK, DOCA libraries, or similar).

Wondering if you’re a good fit? We believe in investing in our people and value candidates who can bring their diverse experiences to our teams – even if you aren't a 100% skill or experience match. Here are a few qualities we’ve found compatible with our team. If some of this describes you, we’d love to talk.

  • You love building long-term, strategic relationships and finding creative ways to unlock mutual value with partners.
  • You’re curious about the rapidly evolving AI and cloud ecosystem and stay current on new technologies, players, and business models.
  • You’re an expert at connecting dots across teams, organizations, and markets to design scalable GTM plays that drive measurable impact.
