What You’ll Do:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Centre Design Manager – EMEA to lead and manage the design process across CoreWeave’s data Centre developments within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. This individual will oversee the work of our selected data centre providers and ensure that all designs meet CoreWeave’s technical, performance, efficiency, and scalability requirements.

About the role:

The role will focus primarily on managing the execution of Architectural, MEP, and LV/IT infrastructure designs across leased facilities, build-to-suit sites, and greenfield developments throughout the EMEA region. The Design Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all design-related matters on assigned projects, collaborating with internal teams and external consultants to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to CoreWeave standards. The role will also support construction activities to ensure designs are fully and accurately implemented in the field.

Who You Are:

  • Manage and coordinate multiple concurrent data centre design projects across the EMEA region, from concept through detailed design, including greenfield builds, tenant fitouts, build-to-suit projects, renovations, upgrades, and end-of-life replacements.
  • Oversee the work of Professional Consultants (Architects, Engineers) and Equipment Suppliers throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for all design-related matters on assigned EMEA projects, ensuring clear and consistent communication with Data Centre Providers, Contractors, A/E firms, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal SMEs across electrical, mechanical, LV/IT, and BMS disciplines to ensure all project requirements and technical specifications are captured and integrated into design deliverables.
  • Apply CoreWeave Design & Engineering Guidelines and relevant EMEA industry standards and codes, incorporating value-engineering to optimize cost, performance, and constructability.
  • Track and document all deviations from the Basis of Design (BoD) throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment and approvals with internal teams and external consultants.
  • Partner with Construction Management to support project schedule development, budget planning, and forecasting of design-phase costs.
  • Review and evaluate OFCI (Owner-Furnished, Contractor-Installed) equipment submittals and coordinate recommendations with Procurement and Construction Management.
  • Participate in design reviews and page-turn sessions, providing feedback on drawings, Basis of Design documents, Sequences of Operation, commissioning plans, and testing scripts.
  • Support RFP processes for A/E consultants and commissioning agents, including proposal evaluation, vendor selection, scope alignment, and invoice review.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed project reports for executive leadership and project teams, monitoring scope, budget, schedule, risks, and alignment with CoreWeave’s project gating process.
  • Provide regular project updates to internal and external stakeholders across the region.
  • Conduct site visits throughout EMEA to review construction progress, validate design implementation, and ensure adherence to specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Capacity Planning, Network Engineering, Construction, Operations, Supply Chain, and Technical Project Management to ensure end-to-end alignment.
  • Contribute to internal design team meetings, exploring and proposing innovative technologies or concepts to enhance project outcomes and integrate industry best practices.
  • Candidates must have the right to work in the UK/EU or meet the requirements for a Skilled Worker visa.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field), Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in data centre engineering or design with a proven track record of successfully completing data centre design projects.
  • Strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure systems, including cooling systems (air-cooled chiller plants, water-cooled chiller plants, liquid cooling), power distribution, UPS systems, generators, familiarity with Building Management/Automation Systems (BMS), and an understanding of LV/IT design.
  • Experience with large-scale, high-density data centres and cloud infrastructure, including familiarity with power, cooling, and other critical infrastructure systems.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with strong project management and organizational skills, ensuring successful project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on developing efficient, cost-effective solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Uptime Institute, BICSI, LEED, or similar) are a plus.
